Playwright Tom Stoppard photographed at the Aldwych Theatre, London in 1974 during rehearsals of his new play 'Travesties' to be performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). Born Tomas Straussler in Zlin in the Czech Republic in 1937, he arrived in Britain in 1946. The multi-award winning author of stage and television plays and screenplays he was knighted in 1997 for services to literature.
